QUEER|ART|PRIDE is an annual summer festival celebrating work by the organization’s vibrant community of more than 200 LGBTQ+ artists.
Queer|Art is excited to present Queer|Art|Pride 2022—the fifth annual edition of the summer festival celebrating work by the organization’s vibrant community of more than 200 LGBTQ+ artists. Queer|Art|Pride convenes a diverse network of artists, performers, writers, and creatives to offer a fabulous array of public programs throughout the entire months of June and July.
The Queer|Art|Pride Digital Book & Print Fair (June 1st–July 31st)—the online marketplace with work available for sale this year by 50+ participating artists—returns in full force and remains the centerpiece of Queer|Art|Pride. The Fair will be activated once again through our popular online Show ‘N’ Tell series (June 14th and July 19th), where artists read, perform, and otherwise demonstrate the variety of work they have for sale. RSVP here, and see the full lineup of participating artists here.
Additional highlights include Queer|Art’s participation in Pride on the Whitney Lawn on June 11th, and a new partnership with e-flux to co-host the queer anime classic, Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence Apocalypse, on June 24th. Full schedule of events below!

REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA: ADOLESCENCE APOCALYPSE SCREENING WITH E-FLUX
On June 24th at 8pm EST, Queer|Art teams up with e-flux to present the 1999 queer, cult favorite, Revolutionary Girl Utena: Adolescence Apocalypse, at the e-flux Screening Room. The film, directed by Kunihiko Ikuhara and written by Yōji Enokido, is heralded as a lesbian anime classic. Protagonist Utena Tenjou, is a sharp witted, high school tomboy dueling prospective suitors of the Rose Bride. Those who betroth this eclectic new student amass the "power to revolutionize the world.” In the film, bubble-gum kitsch and camp color dark personal traumas. For Utena and the Rose Bride, their illicit love affair is a weapon that threatens patriarchal convention in the wake of gender-based violence.
Following the film, join curators Daniella Brito and Dillon Rose Gardener for a talkback with Ducky Bruce Dean and Henry Rodriguez, who will reflect on the intersections of queerness, camp, and anime. And don’t miss the after party at Bar Laika, where they’ll be cooking up a special rose infused cocktail!
