THE FLASH FUND
The Flash Fund at Queer|Art provides emergency funding support for artists' projects, dispersed in $500 micro-grants to Black queer artists within the Queer|Art|Mentorship community. The fund was conceived by and is overseen by members of Queer|Art’s Black Queer Artist Group, which was inaugurated in 2020 as part of our community’s response to the murder of George Floyd and in solidarity with the uprising for Black lives. The Flash Fund is named in honor of Lola Flash, a celebrated photographer, a Mentor in our community, and the first Black board member at Queer|Art. Learn more about Queer|Art’s commitments to centering Black queer artists in our ongoing programs and development in our Call to Action and Accountability, published in June 2020.
A recent recipient of the Flash Fund writes, “Thank you for everything! This is so real, and so community-oriented. I'm grateful and super grateful to QAM's Call for Action and Accountability. As an alum, I hope to one day be able to help sustain the Flash Fund. This work is needed.”
We call on our supporters to contribute to this initiative generously, beyond your continuing and essential support for Queer|Art as an organization.
We strongly encourage to select to make a recurring donation if you are able, so that this group can continue to be supported for as long as possible.
