2013-2015 QAM Mentor Yoruba Richen will screen a work in process cut of her new documentary film, How it Feels to Be Free, as part of the Athena Film Festival. The film explores groundbreaking black female entertainers, whose creative careers and political action for civil rights helped define their identities and inspire the next generation of women. Richen was also announced in January to be a recipient of Chicken & Egg Pictures' inaugural Breakthrough Award, which provides a $50,000 unrestricted grant to five women non-fiction directors, along with a year-long mentorship catered to each.
