2011-2012 QAM Fellow Jess Barbagallo acts in a new production of Basil Kreimendahl’s play, Orange Julius, directed by Dustin Wills and presented by Rattlestick Playwrights Theater and Page 73. The play, which premiered at Moxie Theatre Company of San Diego in 2015, centers around a child and father struggling to connect - the father is a Vietnam veteran suffering from Agent Orange-related illness, and the child is transgender. As the elder's health fades, the child is led back through memories, fantasies, photo albums and war movie reenactments, in search for a meaningful relationship before there can no longer be one.
